A nice quick guide to keeping a sketchbook

The book is actually the result of a successful Kickstarter campaign from June 2015. The campaign had other goodies options such as a leather cover and a hardback watercolour journal.

This softcover book is designed to look like a sketchbook filled with lots of interesting sketches. It's not a big book, around A5 size, and there are only 112 pages.

The book's split into two parts. The first part talks about the different tools you can use for drawing, and the second part features 8 different artists who shares their own sketching tips.

The artists that are featured are:

Florian Afflerbach
Rhea Dadoo
Derrick Dent
Michel Hellman
Deborah Jung-Jin Lee
Briony May Smith
Dawn Tan
Maja Waronska

I can't believe they actually manage to get Maja Waronska to contribute. She's an amazing watercolour artist and actually the book only talks about the sketching and did not feature her breathtaking watercolour paintings.

Overall, it's quite an insightful book. There are lots of useful but brief tips and ideas from the contributing artists. The book's for beginners and you'll get the most out of it if you have basic drawing skills.

I like the format of the book. I just wish that they had featured more artists to make the book thicker, which would have made the book more worth the money.

I love looking at sketchbooks and seeing the interesting things that other artists do in theirs, but this book really didn't seem to offer much. Also--at the risk of sounding like a pompus jerk--i found myself wondering why they chose some of the artists they chose to advise on the book... ?

The photos are great but not labeled, the English and some facts are not quite perfect

The photos in this book are good, but photo credits are not displayed next to most of the photos. Photos are not labeled with the common or scientific name or spider family. Readers are not sure what is in some of the photos. The author is probably not a native English speaker because many of the statements are not quite grammatically correct. In several places the author’s statements are unclear and don’t make sense.

The author admits some confusion about the Daddy Long Legs: “You are grossly mistaken if you think that Daddy Long Legs are spiders!” This confusion is not entirely the authors fault as the taxa is in dispute.
FACT: Daddy Longleg is also the common name of two other unrelated arthropods.
FACT Daddy long legs are arachnids in the family Pholcidae, but the author does not quite set the record straight on this.
The book contains this statement: “… They belong to a different class of Arachnid family, and known as the Harvestmen.”
FACT: Daddy Long Legs belong to the ORDER Opiliones (not a class) commonly known as Huntsman spiders.

The educational value of this book is limited, because of the incorrect English, and unlabeled photos. No information sources are cited. I apologize for being so picky about the facts, but when you are teaching children science, you need to get the facts straight.

It sparkles! Very highly recommended

Shelves of baby food overwhelm Gunnery Sergeant Sam Pearce. He understands top-secret military maneuvers, but supermarket selections for tikes are beyond his experience. So when old flame Michelle Guillaire spies his dilemma, she quickly steps in with her assistance. Not only does Michelle lend aid and rescue in the supermarket, but while Sam flies to Hawaii to retrieve his twin goddaughters, Michelle also spruces up his house and baby-proofs it.
Sam ingeniously labels the baby's feet with their names to tell them apart when he flies them home from Hawaii, even as he heroically defends them from grouches. Despite his successful transformation to "Sergeant Mom," however, Sam needs help. Once again Michelle volunteers her services, generously providing her babysitting and housekeeping skills. Even as she's liberal with her time, however, Michelle seems incredibly reticent in repairing her relationship with Sam. And now Sam wants to know why.
Author Maureen Child creates a wonderful romance in DID YOU SAY TWINS?! As these twin girls turn the lives of Sam and Michelle upside down, they also provide the impetuous for healing old wounds. Sam's desire to understand the past and Michelle's overachieving in baby preparation result in delightful characterizations that simply sparkle. Once again Child demonstrates her consummate skill at playing upon our deepest emotions with her captivating and endearing tale. This poignant tale of love and laughter comes very highly recommended.
