A comically fun read if you like EEEVIL music!
By Son of Flintstone
Who's the audience for this stuff, these books? Parents and youth (teenagers) who are or become aghast at their own abysmal music taste for lowbrow white trailer-trash rock bands. Uh, so they have simple lobotomized bad taste in the arts. Bad children's music: big deal!

When Pat Boone made a joke (IN A METAL MOOD; NO MORE MR. NICE GUY In a Metal Mood: No More Mr Nice Guy) of the bombastic religious parental concern for listening to tripe some years ago, he destroyed the EEEvil-Rock-Music book niche market and the ministries that fed off it. No more backmasking conspiracies, no more "you listen to EEEVIL Van Halen! David Lee Roth is marching you to H***," no more Run DMC will wreck and ruin you.

Please note that this title, THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED, is an updated reprint/reissue of Larson's 1966, um, "classic," ROCK & ROLL, THE DEVIL'S DIVERSION Rock & roll: The devil's diversion. My copy dates the 1978 reprint of THE DAY... title; THE DAY... title prior edition dates 1972 from Creation House publisher. The 1978 edition shows ownership to Bob Larson as publisher. No advertising/sales offers are featured at the end of my 1978 edition.

Comically recommended; a fun read! Be sure to check out Jeff Godwin's works!

Note: This book is the source of the "rock music hard boils eggs in front of a speaker" urban legend, on page #116. The original attribution to the 1936 study (the study was not dated as back in the swing era in Larson's reference in either book) by Drs. Earl W. Flosdorf and Leslie A. Chambers in Bob Larson's ...THE DEVIL'S DIVERSION on page 74 did not include the later "...teenage fad..." reference, but when the book was updated and given a new title here, the reference to the "...teenage fad..." was inserted in these later THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED editions. Larson's footnote references his source as the book, MUSIC FOR YOUR HEALTH by Dr. Podolsky, Bernard Ackerman Publishing.
